AUVA is the largest statutory accident insurance institution offering insurance cover to approximately three million gainfully employed Austrians, 1.3 million pupils and students as well as numerous voluntary relief organizations (i.e. voluntary fire-fighting associations). One of AUVA’s main tasks (alongside the treatment of victims of accidents, their rehabilitation and payment of pension benefits) consists in the prevention of occupational accidents and occupational diseases, which involves, amongst other activities, the free counselling of companies, the provision of training and information media (i.e. brochures, magazines, films, posters) as well as the organization of seminars and technical training courses. In addition, through its prevention centres, AUVA offers, free of charge, prevention services to small-sized enterprises employing up to 50 people.
