Conformity Assessment Procedures

Under EC legislation, the respective procedure stipulated for conformity assessment requires proof of compliance with the Essential Safety Requirements (Grundlegende (SicherheitsAnforderungen, GSA) of the relevant manufacturer’s instructions (i.e. Machinery Safety Directive, MSV) of 2010. Four different procedures are possible with regard to machinery: internal control of production (referred to in Annex Eight), with regard to machines produced in accordance with Annex Four, either a type examination (referred to in Annex Nine), a certified system of comprehensive quality assurance (referred to in Annex Ten) or strict adherence to the harmonized (European) standards. The certificate of conformity has to be signed in all cases by the manufacturer who also affixes the CE marking to the machine. A separate procedure is stipulated by the Machinery Directive 2010 for not fully completed machinery.
