Employers have the obligation to actively monitor the safety and health protection of their staff, and to continuously improve working conditions. On the basis of the wording of the Labour Protection Act (ArbeitnehmerInnenschutzgesetz , AschG) it is no longer sufficient simply to comply with labour protection provisions (without giving any attention to this issue – see also Protection Objectives). Employers’ own considerations concerning labour protection at work are desirable and are, in particular, required in the process of assessing safety at work (workplace evaluation).
