Limit Loads (for Lifting and Carrying)

Depending on gender, age and frequency of handling, limit loads have been defined for lifting and carrying objects. A man in the age bracket 19 to 45 should not repeatedly lift a load of more than 30 kg, a woman in the same age group not more than 10 kg. By means of standardized procedures, such as the key characteristics method (Leitmerkmalmethode) a more detailed assessment is possible. At any rate loads should always be lifted and carried with the upper body in a straight and upright position, and with arms stretched downwards!
