The Regulation relating to Noise and Vibrations (Verordnung Lärm und Vibrationen, VOLV) of 2006 provides for the protection of employees against these risks. The Regulation makes a distinction between trigger values and limit values for exposure to noise causing hearing loss and vibrations affecting hands, arms or the whole body. Furthermore, it defines annoying noise limit levels for certain rooms (i.e. staff rooms). The Regulation also provides for specific evaluation and documentation duties and stipulates appropriate action. The annexes to the Regulation contain definitions and assessment procedures (measuring methods).
