When selecting office chairs, in which particularly office staff are sitting for the major part of their working hours, special attention should be given to

• the proper adjustment of these chairs;
• avoiding forced postures (key word: dynamic sitting);
• the stability of the chair (which must be equipped with five wheels or castors, four are no longer permissible);
• a height-adjustable and tiltable backrest;

For certain types of activities, i.e. monitoring of systems which require workers to stand up frequently, standing aid is to be given preference.
