The recognized rules of technology are technical principles derived from scientific studies and empirical experience, of which the sustainability for practical application has been proven. The rules of technology need not necessarily have a scientific background, as they may exclusively defined on the basis of technical experience or a consensus concerning their practical application. With regard to their innovative value and significance, rules of technology correspond to the state of the art. (Recognized) rules of technology are primarily based on a broad consensus among experts and are reflected by standards, in particular (ÖNORM, EN, ISO).
