In contrast to prevention experts, safety representatives (Sicherheitsvertrauensperson, SVP) are staff representatives and should not be mixed up with the former. The scope of activities of safety representatives and prevention experts coincide, to some extent, as both are responsible for all matters related to safety and health protection at work. The technical training of safety representatives comprises a three-day technical course offered, for example, by AUVA and the Austrian Chamber of Labour. Members of the works council may also be appointed as safety representatives. See also Appointment of Safety Representatives.
