Safety experts (experts for safety at work) have the task of counselling employers, workers, safety representatives and workers’ representatives on all matters relating to safety at work and ergonomic workplace design, and to support employers in the exercise of their duties with regard to labour protection. The training of safety experts consists of an eight-week technical course as offered by AUVA, for example. Every company has to rely on the services of safety experts, whose minimum work input is governed by the provisions of Part Seven of the Labour Protection Act (Arbeitnehmerschutz-gesetz, ASchG), in particular by Sections 74, 76, 77 and 77a.
