Self-propelled Work Equipment (i.e. Forklift Trucks)

In-company traffic must be safely managed by suitable measures, such as floor markings, traffic rules or warning signs and panels. Written operating instructions have to be drawn up for the use of self-propelled work equipment; furthermore, workers may use such work equipment only if they have been granted a driving permit by their employer. Transporting persons is permissible only under certain conditions; since the end of 2002 most self-propelled work equipment must be fitted with a restraint system (safety belts) and fire extinguishers. If the work equipment is also used for lifting with a carrier (work basket), more stringent requirements have to be satisfied.
