The labour protection terminology distinguishes between workplaces, construction sites and remote workplaces. The terms workplace, workroom and workstation, in a sense, reflect a vertical structure. The requirements for workplaces are defined in Part Two of the Labour Protection Act and the Regulation relating to Work Premises (Arbeitsstättenverordnung - AStV).
