The Federal Act on the Employment of Children and Young Persons (Bundesgesetz über die Beschäftigung von Kindern und Jugendlichen, KJBG) and the appurtenant regulation applies to the employment of apprentices and/or young people up to the age of 18. Apprentices may not, or only under certain conditions, perform certain activities. In addition, the provisions of this law define working hours and rest periods and contain general prohibitions of certain types of work. The Regulation also specifies the bans and restrictions relating to work with certain types of work equipment and certain activities.
