Construction hoists are lifting devices with a vertical lifting height of more than two meters which are dismantled after completion of construction work and whose lifting gear remains in the guide structures during operation. The Regulation relating to the Protection of Construction Workers (Bauarbeiterschutzverordnung, BauV) makes a distinction between construction hoists without passenger transport and those with passenger transport. In the latter case, construction hoists must be equipped with additional safety features.
