Suitable fire extinguishing systems (or fire control devices), such as fire extinguishers, fire-fighting water, fire blankets, fire sand, fire plugs and portable or self-propelled fire extinguishers must be available in sufficient numbers at all workplaces. In the selection and determination of the number of such devices, in particular, the following aspects are to be taken into account:
- Fire classes and combustion behaviour of equipment and work substances
- Existing fire load
- Type of use and size of the workplaces
