Manufacturer’s Instructions

Certain products, such as machines and personal protective equipment, are subject to manufacturer’s instructions and, as a sign of their compliance with these, bear the CE marking. This marking (merely) indicates that the Regulation relating to Machinery Safety (Maschinen-Sicherheitsverordnung, MSV) of 2010 has been complied with as regards the machines and means, in practical terms, that the Essential Safety Requirements (Grundlegende Sicherheitsanforderungen, GSA) and the relevant conformity assessment procedure set forth in the Regulation have been respected. Thus the CE marking is not a quality label, it merely testifies to compliance with the legally stipulated minimum requirements. Despite the CE marking affixed to a machine, you should (prior to full payment) check the machine for compliance with the Regulation relating to Machinery Safety of 2010.
