Noise Exposure Level

The noise exposure level is the parameter for the impact of noise on a certain person. It is calculated on the basis of the sound pressure level and the duration of noise impact. Ear protection must be made available to workers when the daily (or weekly) noise exposure level reaches 80 dB(A). If the noise exposure level exceeds 85 dB(A), ear protection devices must be worn, otherweise workers could suffer from noise-induced hearing loss.
