Occupational Health Experts

Within the meaning of the Labour Protection Act (ArbeitnehmerInnenschutzgesetz, ASchG), these experts perform a preventive function, acting as advisers to employers in matters concerning health protection at work. An occupational health expert should, in particular, support and give advice to employers with regard to health issues (effects of exposure to noise or vibrations, taking into account ergonomic principles). After completion of medical studies, candidates receive specialist training in a 12 week technical course on occupational health. Every Enterprise has to enlist the services of an occupational health expert; the minimum time input and field of activities of such experts are specified in the Labour Protection Act.
