With regard to the appointment of prevention experts, the Labour Protection Act (ArbeitnehmerInnenschutzgesetz, ASchG) makes a distinction between two models based on prevention periods. For companies employing a staff of over 50 persons, the annual prevention time is calculated per employer in accordance with Section 82a of the Labour Protection Act, whereas in companies employing up to 50 persons, occupational health specialists and safety experts provide annual consultancy services (headcount of 11 to 50 employees) or bi-annual counselling (headcount 1 – 10 employees). If a company operates in several different locations and employs a maximum of 250 persons (i.e. total number of employees at all workplaces), the company may also use the (free) services of AUVA’s prevention centres.
