Regulation relating to the Protection of Construction Workers

The Regulation relating to the Protection of Construction Workers (Bauarbeiterschutzverordnung, BauV) of 1995, covers Part Two of the Labour Protection Act (ArbeitnehmerInnenschutzgesetz, ASchG) and contains general as well as specific requirements and measures to be taken during work on construction sites. It is subdivided into six main parts:
Chapter One: General Requirements and Measures (i.e. personal protective Equipment, reporting of construction work, first aid, etc.);
Chapter Two: Specific Requirements and Measures (i.e. earth and rock works, scaffoldings, work on roofs, work in trenches);
Chapter Three: Maintenance, Testing, Cleaning and Instruction;
Chapter Four: Implementation of Labour Protection (duties of employers and workers);
Chapter Five: Measures Taken by Authorities to Protect Workers, Waivers, Exceptions, Derogations;
Chapter Six: Final and Transitional Clauses
