Workplaces have to be designed in such a way as to ensure that from any point on the premises the nearest traffic route is located at a maximum distance of 10 m, and over its entire length, all the way to the exit, corresponds to the criteria defined for escape routes. After a maximum distance of 40 m (from any point on the premises) the escape route must meet the requirements applying to safe escape areas. Emergency exits and stairwells have to comply with specific provisions.
