UV Radiation

UV radiation belongs to the category of electromagnetic radiation alongside light, heat and Xray radiation. Depending on its biological impact it is subdivided into the following spectral ranges:
  • UV(A) … 400–315 nm (nanometer);
  • UV(B) … 315–280 nm;
  • UV(C) … 280-100 nm.

Excessive radiation intensity or duration (sunburn!) may cause chronic or acute damage to the eyes or skin.
UV exposure may occur in the following work areas (non-exhaustive list): in photolithography, polymerisation, magnetic powder testing, sterilisation in the food and beverage industry or in hospitals or nursing homes. See also Radiation Protection
