Vulnerable Personnel

Special protective provisions apply to some staff categories which also have to be taken into account in the risk assessment at work. These provisions apply, in particular, to pregnant women and nursing mothers under the Maternity Protection Act (Mutterschutzgesetz, MSchG), to young adults and apprentices under the Act Governing the Employment of Children and Young People (Kinder- und Jugendbeschäftigungsgesetz, KJBG) and the Regulation relating to the Employment of Children and Young People) as well as to (mentally and physically) handicapped employees. As a general rule, the activities to be performed by employees must be in line with their age, physical strength, physical constitution, and qualifications.
