Wood dust is dealt with in Part Three and Annexes Three, Four and Five of the Limit Value Regulation (Grenzwerteverordnung GKV). In general, extraction is required when wood dust is generated; exempted from this rule are a number of machines (Annex Four, A, to the Limit Value Regulation (GKV) for which effective extraction is not possible. The technical approximate concentration of 2 mg/m³ does not apply to these machines, but the limit value of 5 mg/m³ is relevant. If beech and oakwood are processed to a significant extent, the recirculation of waste air into workrooms is prohibited (Ban on Waste Air Recirculation).
